Purcell: The Indian Queen (Concert Performance)

Teodor Currentzis and Utopia return to De Singel with a concert performance of Henry Purcell’s The Indian Queen.

Inspired by John Dryden and Robert Howard’s 17th-century heroic drama, this semi-opera has undergone a profound transformation under Currentzis and director Peter Sellars’s creative vision. The 2023 revival at the Salzburg Festival integrates new texts and Purcell’s additional works, enriching the narrative with layers of depth.
