Musikfest Bremen. Brahms: A German Requiem

On Good Friday, 10 April 1868, music history was made in Bremen: Johannes Brahms conducted the acclaimed premiere of »A German Requiem« in St. Petri cathedral. It was in this large-scale piece for soloists, mixed choir and orchestra that the composer’s mature music language manifested to its fullest, and the premiere in 1868 was one of the first his greatest triumphs. Teodor Currentzis now returns to the place of the premiere with Brahms’ groundbreaking masterpiece, accompanied by the Utopia choir and orchestra.
